Accepted Story

Well, it must be about a month since my last post, but I haven't had a lot to say really. I sold a story today though, so that, at least, is worth mentioning. The story is called Danny and the Ghost and it has been accepted by Stories That Lift I had two rejection arrive in my inbox at the same time, so the acceptance email softened the blow a little.

This is a second outing for Danny and the Ghost because the story was used on a website called Gorlan way back in 2005. The site has since vanished from the net though, so I thought I would offer second print rights on the story and find it a new home. Danny and the Ghost isn't a horror story. It is, in fact, a children's story. Most of the stuff I write is rather nasty. Danny and the Ghost is, by way of a change, a nice little tale and I am rather fond of it. It is probably a one off though, I have no plans to write any further children's stories. But. Never say never. Anyway, I will post the link when it goes live.

Accepted Story

Well, it's a week since my last post, but I didn't really have anthing interesting to say. I do today though because I have just sold one of my short stories to a new electronic magazine called Arkham Tales. The story is called Animal Rights, I am not sure which issue it will be included in, but the debut issue should be out in November.

When The Wind Blows

I was surprised to to find the animated film When The Wind Blows available to watch online on an Asian site. It's a very good film and I haven't seen it for ages. I think I will order the DVD from Amazon because the picture on the online copy is not as good as it might be, but if you fancy watching it HERE IS THE LINK
About a hundred years ago (it seems that way anyway) when I was at school we read the book as part of our English lesson I am pretty sure that we watched a video of the film too. It is rather sad and right up intil the end when they are dying of radiation poisoning the old couple still have faith in the government. Very sad.

When Vampire Bats Attack...

Sometimes real life is just as scary as fiction. I have just read an article in The North Bay Nugget (cool name, or what?) about some Venezuelan Villages where 38 people have died and the experts suspect that they may have contacted rabies after being bitten by vampire bats. The Nugget isn't really saying much more about it, but if you want to read the rest JUST CLICK HERE

Two Weeks?

I have just realized that it is nearly two weeks since my last post. It doesn't seem that long.

I haven't done anything interesting lately though, so there has not been much to post about: same old, same old.

The only unusual thing I have done is buy a didgeridoo. I went down to Whitby a couple of weeks ago and there are a lot of shops there that sell unusual things. One of them had a selection of didgeridoos. Suddenly I wanted a didgeridoo. I don't know why, I've managed all these years without one. Anyway, I'm not one for being spontaneous so I went home, did some research on didgeridoos and then had a good think about it. Apparently didgeridoos are one of the oldest instruments in the world, I never knew that. They tend to be made of either eucalyptus wood or bamboo and the eucalyptus ones are actually hollowed out by termites. Wow! I never knew that either.

So, with my new found insight on didgeridoos I had a look around some of the local shops and bought a rather nice instrument made of eucalyptus wood. I could have had bamboo, but I wanted eucalyptus. If it's good enough for the termites, it's good enough for me. And, besides, it has a picture of a snake on it.

I've been watching a few YouTube videos of people playing the didgeridoo. Here's a rather good one:
